The Inman™ ‘Speed Brace’ is a removable brace specially designed to straighten the front 4 top or bottom teeth only, typically in just 6-16 weeks.

Two main types of patients: 1) Those who’ve had orthodontic treatment as a child and relapsed through not wearing a retainer; 2) Those who have crowding of, or gaps between, the top or bottom front teeth only.

Inman™ is not suitable for everyone, namely those with severe crowding in both arches, poorly positioned canines and/or back crowding. And, unlike Invisalign® it can’t treat all your teeth (full arches), as it’s specifically designed to treat the front 4 teeth only. A thorough examination at a Straightening Consultation is therefore vital.

The Inman Aligner™ is custom-made to fit snugly over the front 4 teeth and uses 2 opposing spring-loaded aligning bars to provide gentle but continuous pressure to align teeth. It pushes in teeth that are sticking out and pushes out those that are set back and can close gaps. Perhaps surprisingly, this gentle pressure is not only the quickest way to move teeth but also makes treatment very safe and kind to teeth.

Impressions are taken and then, at your second appointment 2-3 weeks later, the aligner is fitted and you’ll then also be able to see a model cast of the likely finished effect following treatment. Close supervision is important and we like to see patients every 2-3 weeks to review and adjust the aligner. To create space and allow teeth to align, very small adjustments may need to be made to certain teeth by smoothing their outside edges.

Wearing the Inman Aligner™ as directed is paramount – it will only work if you wear it every day for the treatment time. Ideally, you should wear it at all times, only taking it out for eating and cleaning, and certainly for a minimum of 20 hours a day. Any less and the treatment could take longer to complete.

You should always remove it before eating and be sure to clean your teeth and your aligner before putting it back in. It is alright to take your aligner out for photos and special occasions as long as this is for no longer than a few hours.

Inman™ generally works much faster than other systems, provided it’s worn every day throughout treatment, as directed. Cases vary depending on the degree of crowding and level of compliance but most cases are completed in 6-16 weeks, although many patients see a noticeable improvement in as little as 2 weeks. Once teeth have moved to the desired position, a very discreet retainer (like a clear gumshield) needs to be worn at night, so your teeth remain in their new position. Inman™ is a conservative treatment and doesn’t usually require any teeth to be taken out to create space, unlike fixed braces. It can also cut down on the need for Veneers to align teeth: after treatment, you may require fewer Veneers or none at all. The fact that the aligner is removable makes it easier to clean your teeth than with fixed braces and also means you can take it out for special occasions or if you’re playing a sport where you risk being hit in the mouth.

Like other orthodontic appliances, the Inman Aligner™ can feel a little uncomfortable or tender for the first 3-4 days and your speech may be affected for the first couple of weeks, but every case is different.

You’ll need to book in for a Straightening Consultation for which there is a charge of £30, so we can assess your suitability for treatment and give you an indication of costs and treatment time. This may show you’re perfectly suited to Inman™ but it may show that another Straightening system and/or Cosmetic Dentistry treatment option could be better for your case.

Typically, Inman™ costs £1500 per arch, although costs will depend on the complexity of the case. The price does, however, include ALL appointments, refinements, mid-course corrections and Essix® retainer to be worn at night at the end of treatment (ie NO Extras). Please refer to our Price List.
